Raul's race against time

Real Madrid striker Raul is facing a race against time to be fit for Sunday's Primera Liga clash with Alaves.

The Spanish international suffered a thigh injury in the 3-3 Champions League draw with AEK Athens and was replaced by Fernando Morientes in the 81st minute.

"We want to see how Raul progresses in the next few hours although it doesn't appear to be anything worrying at the moment," said club doctor Alfonso del Coral.

"We are going to see if he has time to recover for the Alaves match and if he can't make it, he should be fit to play against Betis on Tuesday."
