Raul: Ronaldo was a good Real Madrid teammate

Real Madrid captain Raul insists he will miss Ronaldo after the Brazilian signed for AC Milan yesterday.

The pair never saw eye-to-eye, with Raul having criticised Ronaldo last season through the press, but he said yesterday: "Ronie has given great joy to the fans, many goals to Madrid and has been a great teammate. This stage of his career is over. We thank him for what he has contributed."

"With Ronie's exit perhaps I will have more chances to play. I like to always play in attack and maybe I will get my chance now. But it will be the coach who decides."

On Real's poor start to the second-half of the season, Raul insisted: "Our situation has calmed. We had a players meeting and that was important. We now are determined to move forward as a unit, together and united."

"We now are focused totally on football. There'll be no outside distractions."
