Raul: I Don’t Regret My Decision To Join Schalke

Having misfired badly in the early weeks of the season, Raul has rejected suggestions that he is regretting his summer move from Real Madrid to Bundesliga side Schalke.

Revered in the Spanish capital after record goal scoring exploits, the veteran goal poacher has yet to get off the mark in Gelsenkirchen and is already being considered a massive flop at his newly adopted club. The Spaniard, however, insists that he has no regrets moving to die Koenigsblauen.

"My decision to pursue my career at Schalke 04 is in no way a mistake," he is quoted by French sportspaper L’Equipe as having said. "We have a great team. Certainly, the beginning has been difficult, but the season lasts 10 months."

Indeed, Felix Magath’s side are struggling as a whole going into their weekend clash against Borussia Moenchengladbach, having picked up only three points in their opening five matches of the season. With a Champions League meeting against Benfica forthcoming, the Germans badly need to pick up some momentum with a Saturday success.
