Raul delighted to break Real Madrid goals record

Raul was delighted to net Real Madrid goal No309 in yesterday's 4-0 victory at Sporting Gijon.

The strike made Raul the club's record goal scorer and he said afterwards: "I'm happy. At last I have been able to overtake Don Alfredo (Di Stefano). Now I'm going to continue scoring goals to help Real Madrid. I leave happy for the victory."

"It was a very important victory that allows us to take points off Barcelona. It was one of the most comprehensive victories we have achieved this season. I am satisfied because teammates (Klaas Jan) Huntelaar and Marcelo have also scored."

Raul added: "We have to continue on this road. We know that although we have cut two points, ten is a major difference. Barcelona are having a great championship but much time remains and it is important that we keep trying to come back."
