Racing Santander warn Real Madrid to up Canales offer

Real Madrid are confident of signing Racing Santander midfielder Sergio Canales in the coming days.

AS says the two clubs were getting closer to an agreement yesterday. Racing president Francisco Pernia met with Real chiefs Jose Angel Sanchez and Jorge Valdano to thrash out terms.

Real are also still to finalise personal terms with the player.

Pernia, meanwhile, has warned Real they must up their bid of £3 million as he has superior offers on the table from England.
