Racing Santander confirm hopes of re-signing Real Madrid youngster Canales

Racing Santander coach Miguel Angel Portugal is eyeing a transfer boost in January.

Portugal is hoping to sign former forward Sergio Canales on loan from Real Madrid in the winter market.

The youngster was criticised by Madrid coach Jose Mourinho this week and Portugal admits he would love to welcome the player back to El Sardinero.

"I don't want to get my hopes up," he said.

"Sergio is a talent, he already showed that here, and any talent of that calibre would be very welcome here."
