Queiroz Praises Defence

Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz praised his side's defence after beating Marseille 4-2 in the Champions League opener.

"In the first 20 minutes, Olympique gave us many problems with their organization, but we knew not to panic and we changed tactics as the game changed," he said.

"When they scored first, this acted as a real spur and I must say Marseille struggled to stay with us."

"At times we gambled intelligently, but the most important thing was our defence. Their work allowed the attackers to do what they are paid for."
