PSG to rival Real Madrid for the signing of Eden Hazard

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid will go head-to-head in a pursuit of Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, according to the Daily Mail.

The Belgian international won the PFA Player of the Year award last season as the Blues won the Premier League title with ease. However, he has been a shadow of his former self so far this term, having very little impact at Stamford Bridge during his 12 matches.

And now the aforementioned source reports that both PSG and Los Blancos are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, who is seen as one of the most talented players in world football.

Chelsea’s No.10 would obviously command a massive fee, but the reported suitors are hardly short on cash with Madrid breaking the world-record fee on three separate occasions in recent years.

PSG have already raided Chelsea in the past few seasons, signing Brazilian defender David Luiz for a fee of £40 million in 2014 – as reported by BBC Sport – and they will be hoping to bring Hazard back to France, where he played for Lille before his move to West London.

Hazard signed a new five-year contract last season but could be tempted by a transfer away if Chelsea fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Despite Chelsea’s poor form, Hazard has created 32 chances with a passing accuracy of 86% so far this season, so he is clearly still capable of delivering when it matters.

Hazard is thought to be an admirer of Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane, who was his idol as a young player, which could sway him towards the Spanish Capital.
