Brief reports of matches played in the Primera Liga on Sunday:

ATHLETIC BILBAO 0 GIMNASTIC 2

Striker Javier Portillo raced clear onto Antonio Pinilla's pass to score in the 37th minute for the visitors who were reduced to 10 men when defender Mingo was sent off in the 52nd.

But they extended the lead in the 72nd when Pinilla scored with a free header at the far post. The Bilbao team were whistled off the pitch at the end.

DEPORTIVO CORUNA 0 REAL BETIS 1

A fourth clean sheet in a row for Betis who broke Depor's unbeaten run in 2007 with a goal from striker Fernando 10 minutes from time when he raced on to Miguel Angel's defence-splitting pass.

ESPANYOL 1 VILLARREAL 1

Espanyol striker Raul Tamudo was alert for Luis Garcia's quickly taken free kick after 28 minutes to volley in unmarked at the far post.

Villarreal equalised in spectacular fashion when Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan unleashed a 25 metre shot that flew into the top corner. Villarreal's Cani put the ball over an empty goal from a metre out near the end.

RACING SANTANDER 1 OSASUNA 0

A fifth home win in a row for Racing who scored in the 79th minute when Osasuna goalkeeper Ricardo could only parry Nikola Zigic's header from a free kick for striker Juanjo to nod home the rebound.

REAL MADRID 1 GETAFE 1

Getafe took the game to Real in the first half and scored in the 38th minute when Mario Cotelo slipped a ball through the defence for Daniel Guiza to finish past Iker Casillas.

Real won a penalty in the 45th minute when visiting goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri brought down Robinho. Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy scored from the spot.

Getafe ran out of steam in the second half but Real's Antonio Cassano and Robinho failed to take their chances.

REAL MALLORCA 3 LEVANTE 1

Mallorca took control of this match early in the second half when Serbian midfielder Bosko Jankovic headed in at the far post in the 48th and three minutes later Victor curled in a second from outside the area after a swift break.

In the 72nd Levante's Olivier Kapo fired in from outside the area, but Mallorca's Venezuelan forward Juan Arango lobbed the keeper for a third in the final minute.

REAL ZARAGOZA 3 REAL SOCIEDAD 2

Sociedad's Argentine striker German Herrera scored his first goal for the club, stabbing in from close range in the 17th minute as Zaragoza failed to clear a free kick.

Zaragoza's Argentine Pablo Aimar levelled in the 53rd from Ewerthon's header and Diego Milito went down for a penalty in the 74th. The Argentine scored from the spot and Brazilian Ewerthon rounded the keeper for the third in the 81st.

Sociedad, who have no away wins, pulled a goal back at the end when Inigo Diaz de Cerio surprised the home defence.

RECREATIVO HUELVA 1 ATLETICO MADRID 0

Recre won a penalty after 10 minutes when Ze Castro brought down the lively Ikechukwu Uche in the area. French striker Florent Sinama Pongolle scored from the spot.

Uche won a second penalty four minutes later, but this time Sinama Pongolle blazed over the bar, which made for an uncomfortable second half for the home side.

Atletico lost Costinha to a red card near the end and Fernando Torres's overhead kick hit the bar in time added on.

SEVILLA 2 BARCELONA 1

Ronaldinho headed Barca in front from Gianluca Zambrotta's deep cross in the 13th minute and won a penalty in the 28th when Aitor Ocio brought him down in the area. Ocio was sent off but Sevilla keeper Andres Palop saved Ronaldinho's spot kick.

Sevilla full back Daniel Alves crossed for Russian striker Alexander Kerzhakov to spin and level in the 39th and Alves scored from a free kick to put them ahead in the 61st.

Barca had Ludovic Giuly harshly sent off in the 62nd after tussling for the ball with Alves and Zambrotta was sent off for collecting two yellow cards inside a minute in the 76th.

VALENCIA 1 CELTA VIGO 0

Lowly Celta have one of the best away records and were in the ascendancy against the title challengers when Valencia's Fernando Morientes scored the only goal in the 67th minute.

The Spain striker went full stretch to lift Hugo Viana's far post cross over the goalkeeper. Valencia's Santiago Canizares made a last minute save from Fernando Baiano to make sure they held on to all three points.
