A morale-boosting win for Bilbao who had previously only managed one home win all season.

Igor Gabilondo robbed the ball on the left and crossed for Aritz Aduriz to steer home in the 30th minute then, after the break, Fran Yeste's pass set Aduriz through on goal to score the second.

DEPORTIVO CORUNA 0 LEVANTE 0

Mid-table Depor maintained their unbeaten start to 2007 but the draw did little for either side's prospects.

ESPANYOL 3 REAL MALLORCA 1

Espanyol striker Luis Garcia curled a free kick over the wall in the 29th minute, but Mallorca's Serbian midfielder Bosko Jankovic levelled the score from close range in the 43rd, following good work down the left from Jonas Gutierrez.

Garcia volleyed in at the near post to put Espanyol in front again in the 79th and Brazilian midfielder Eduardo Costa fired a third from the edge of the area in the dying seconds.

OSASUNA 0 CELTA VIGO 1

Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano headed Celta in front from Gustavo Lopez's cross after just two minutes, but the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Uruguayan midfielder Fabian Canobbio was sent off in the 42nd.

Celta's first win in 12 league games eased the pressure on coach Fernando Vazquez.

RACING SANTANDER 4 GIMNASTIC 1

Swedish striker Tobias Grahn finished off a swift counter-attack to put Gimnastic in front after 59 minutes, however, a minute later Racing's Argentine midfielder Lionel Scaloni lashed in a spectacular equaliser from outside the area.

In the 67th minute visiting defender Anibal Matellan headed an own goal, and then Racing midfielder Gonzalo Colsa headed in from a free kick. Pedro Munitis fed Serbian striker Nikola Zigic for the fourth goal with seven minutes left.

RECREATIVO HUELVA 1 REAL SOCIEDAD 0

Recre kept up their push for a place in Europe next season with this win, which was sealed when Portuguese defender Beto headed in at a corner in the 49th minute.

Real Sociedad have yet to win away in the league this season.

SEVILLA 3 ATLETICO MADRID 1

Sevilla kept the pressure on leaders Barca after victory over Atletico, with Mali striker Frederic Kanoute breaking the offside trap to score in the 15th minute.

Brazilian fullback Daniel Alves added a second with a shot from outside the area six minutes later. Sevilla midfielder Jose Luis Marti was sent off in the 35th but they continued to dominate.

Kanoute headed their third from a corner in the 73rd and Atletico pulled one back in the 82nd after a penalty. Fernando Torres's spot kick was saved but defender Pablo Ibanez put the loose ball away.

VALENCIA 2 BARCELONA 1

Valencia confirmed their credentials as title contenders with this win against the champions.

David Villa fed Miguel Angel Angulo from the left for the opener after 52 minutes and three minutes later Angulo pulled the ball back for David Silva to score the second.

Valencia's David Albelda and Barca's Deco were sent off after 62 minutes for studs up challenges. Ronaldinho scored his 16th goal of the season with a free kick for the visitors at the end.

REAL MADRID 0 REAL BETIS 0

Madrid produced another poor home display, creating little against the side that knocked them out of the King's Cup last month.

Both teams hit the woodwork in the second half and, as tempers flared at the end, David Beckham lunged into a challenge from behind on Isidoro and was shown a straight red card.

REAL ZARAGOZA 1 VILLARREAL 0

Zaragoza stayed in the hunt for the Champions League places thanks to a Diego Milito goal in the 32nd minute.

Alberto Zapater's shot came back off the far post and the Argentine striker was on hand to steer the ball high into the net for his 15th goal of the season.
