Depor made it six games without a win and failed to make the most of their numerical advantage after Racing had Pedro Munitis sent off in the 51st minute.

Racing were reduced to nine when Serbian striker Nikola Zigic was also dismissed in the 79th minute, while Depor finished with 10 when striker Cristian Hidalgo was sent off at the end.

ESPANYOL 2 SEVILLA 1

Sevilla looked on course for their fifth straight win in all competitions when Mali striker Frederic Kanoute scored from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, after Carlos Kameni had brought down Adriano Correia in the area.

But Espanyol drew level in the 68th minute when Raul Tamudo beat two defenders with a swift turn to score, and his strike partner Luis Garcia volleyed the winner from Ivan de la Pena's cross in the 79th.

Espanyol had midfielder Albert Riera sent off six minutes from time.

REAL MADRID 2 ATHLETIC BILBAO 1

Bilbao gave new coach Mane a lift when they took the lead in the Bernabeu thanks to Luis Prieto's 34th-minute shot from a free kick which skimmed off Igor Gabilondo.

Real substitute Ronaldo scored the equaliser in the 65th minute from Sergio Ramos's long pass, and his Brazilian compatriot Roberto Carlos fired the winner from outside the area in the 82nd.

Seven minutes earlier Bilbao had striker Aritz Aduriz sent off.

REAL MALLORCA 2 CELTA VIGO 2

Mallorca took an early lead when Bosko Jankovic crossed for Argentine midfielder Jonas Gutierrez to score after just six minutes, and the Serbian midfielder doubled the lead with a spectacular long-range shot in the 52nd.

But Celta are specialists away from home and quickly pulled one back when Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano's shot squirmed past Toni Prats in the 57th minute.

Five minutes from time Baiano won a penalty which Jesus Perera put away at the second attempt. Mallorca's Jonas was sent off at the end.

REAL SOCIEDAD 0 GETAFE 0

Sociedad remain deep in trouble after this draw as they failed once again to earn their first win of the season, while Getafe's problems in front of goal are blunting their push for the European places.

REAL ZARAGOZA 1 OSASUNA 2

Zaragoza paid dearly for taking their foot off the pedal against Osasuna, after having threatened to overrun their opponents in the first half.

A slick passing move involving Carlos Diogo and Sergio Garcia allowed Argentine striker Diego Milito to round the keeper to score in the 19th minute.

But Osasuna's Raul Garcia headed the equaliser from a corner in the 81st, and after a swift counter-attack in the last minute Zaragoza midfielder Leonardo Ponzio turned David Lopez's cross into his own net.

VILLARREAL 2 GIMNASTIC 0

Gimnastic's new coach Paco Flores failed to improve his side's fortunes at the first attempt and they stayed bottom of the table.

Villarreal's Juan Roman Riquelme delivered a free kick for Argentine compatriot Fabricio Fuentes to head the opener in the 22nd minute, and Rodolfo Arruabarrena crossed for Mexico's Guillermo Franco to add the second seven minutes later.

LEVANTE 1 BARCELONA 1

With Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho rested ahead of the Champions League decider against Werder Bremen on Tuesday, Barca lacked a cutting edge up front.

They took the lead when Portuguese midfielder Deco curled a free kick over the wall and in off the near post in the 41st minute.

But Levante never let up and levelled when Oliver Kapo's free kick 13 minutes from time was only parried by Victor Valdes and Brazilian defender Alvaro bundled home the loose ball.

REAL BETIS 0 ATLETICO MADRID 1

Atletico's win puts more pressure on Betis coach Javier Irureta whose side continue to hover near the foot of the table.

Winger Luciano Galletti volleyed the visitors ahead in the 34th minute but from there on it was his Argentine compatriot goalkeeper Leo Franco who took centre stage saving second-half penalties from Betis strikers Edu and Fernando.

RECREATIVO HUELVA 2 VALENCIA 0

Promoted Recre continue to impress and added to the misery surrounding injury-hit Valencia, who suffered their third straight league defeat.

Midfielder Aitor pounced to score in the first minute when Santigao Canizares could only push Javi Guerrero's shot towards the far post.

Recre's French striker Florent Sinama Pongolle sprinted clear to round Canizares eight minutes from time, to score his fifth goal of the season.
