ATHLETIC BILBAO 1 SEVILLA 3

Sevilla got off to a flying start when a Luis Fabiano header and an overhit free kick from midfielder Jose Luis Marti put them 2-0 up with just 10 minutes on the clock.

The Andalucians sat on their lead and Athletic pulled a goal back 20 minutes from time when striker Aritz Aduriz netted a rebound, but Luis Fabiano completed a counter-attack with a cool finish to score his second deep into injury time.

CELTA VIGO 1 REAL ZARAGOZA 1

Argentine striker Diego Milito nodded Zaragoza ahead in the seventh minute but the visitors suffered a setback soon after when midfielder Alberto Zapater was sent off for a second booking.

Celta eventually took advantage of their numerical superiority when Brazilian forward Fernando Baiano levelled with a close-range finish early in the second half.

The hosts were also reduced to 10 men when winger Gustavo Lopez was dismissed late on for apparently insulting a linesman.

GETAFE 0 LEVANTE 0

Stalemate at El Coliseo with neither side able to manufacture any clear scoring chances during the 90 minutes. Getafe have yet to concede a goal at home this season.

GIMNASTIC 2 REAL MALLORCA 3

Midfielder Alejandro Campano put Nastic ahead just before the break but well-taken goals from Bosko Jankovic and Victor put the islanders 2-1 up early in the second half.

Nastic substitute Ruben Castro made it 2-2 when he volleyed home from close range but Venezuelan striker Juan Arango snatched a win for the islanders with a superbly taken free kick two minutes from time.

OSASUNA 4 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 1

Striker Roberto Soldado put the Navarrans ahead after five minutes when he sent a shot crashing high into the net from 20 metres out and Valdo made it 2-0 when he headed in from a corner.

Depor midfielder Juan Rodriguez pulled one back before Soldado made it 3-1 with a spectacular second from 30 metres out. Savo Milosevic completed the win with another stunner as Osasuna secured their first win in eight games.

RACING SANTANDER 4 RECREATIVO HUELVA 3

Racing striker Nikola Zigic opened the scoring with a 14th-minute header. The visitors levelled when Beto and Racing defender Oriol Lozano bundled into the net before an Ezequiel Garay penalty restored the home side's advantage.

Gonzalo Colsa made it 3-1 with a delightful lob just before halftime and the visitors suffered another blow when Beto was sent off on the hour.

Nigerian striker Ikechuckwu Uche scored for the visitors but Zigic struck again to make it 4-2. Jesus Vazquez's 89th-minute free kick came too late to stop Racing making off with the points.

REAL BETIS 1 ESPANYOL 1

Brazilian striker Robert gave Betis the lead from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute after he had been brought down in the area by Espanyol keeper Carlos Kameni.

Espanyol earned themselves a point, however, when Uruguayan centre-forward Walter Pandiani finished off a slick break with a great volley four minutes into injury time.

VALENCIA 0 REAL MADRID 1

Injury-ravaged Valencia paid the price for some profligate finishing as they failed to convert their domination into goals and then fell victim to some sharp finishing from Real striker Raul.

The Real skipper scored his third goal of the season when he snapped home after Roberto Carlos slid the ball into his path in a rare attack seven minutes into the second half.

BARCELONA 4 VILLARREAL 0

Ronaldinho put the champions ahead from the penalty spot and Eidur Gudjohnsen extended their lead early in the second half when he nodded in at the far post.

The stylish Andres Iniesta added a third with an acrobatic volley but the young midfielder was outdone by Ronaldinho when he hooked a spectacular overhead kick high into the net three minutes from time.

ATLETICO MADRID 1 REAL SOCIEDAD 1

Sociedad appeared to be on course for their first win of the season when striker Gari Uranga sent a glancing header past keeper Leo Franco midway through the first half.

Just when they looked as though they might hang on for the win, defender Ion Ansotegi chested the ball into his own net after Luciano Galletti had hoisted a hopeful cross into the area 13 minutes from time.
