DEPORTIVO CORUNA 0 CELTA VIGO 1

Depor suffered their first home defeat of the season in a passionate Galician derby which they dominated until the goal.

Celta broke on a counter-attack from a Depor corner after 74 minutes and Jonathan Aspas fed Brazilian foward Nene to score. Celta have earned 13 of their 16 points away from home.

Depor had defender Alberto Lopo sent off at the end.

ESPANYOL 3 ATHLETIC BILBAO 2

Espanyol ended a run of six draws to earn their under-fire coach Ernesto Valverde a win over his former club.

Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz was impeded in the area for a penalty after 48 minutes which Fran Yeste put away, but Espanyol were soon back in the game as striker Raul Tamudo made space to score in the 54th, and then glanced in a header in the 61st.

Aduriz pounced on a parry from Espanyol keeper Carlos Kameni to level in the 67th minute but Uruguayan striker Walter Pandiani came off the bench to head the winner in the last minute.

LEVANTE 0 ATLETICO MADRID 3

After having failed to score in four league and cup games Atletico have now managed six in two.

Spain striker Fernando Torres scored from the penalty spot in the 34th minute following a late challenge on Antonio Lopez, and Levante were reduced to 10 men when defender Cesar was sent off in the 65th.

Portugal midfielder Maniche lashed in a second four minutes later and then stooped to head in Lopez's cross in the 76th.

REAL MALLORCA 1 BARCELONA 4

Barcelona may have three top class forwards injured but they were still too much for Mallorca's solid defence.

Iceland striker Eidur Gudjohnsen rounded the keeper in the 41st minute after a deft pass from Deco, and made it two in the 58th, spinning clear on to Andres Iniesta's pass.

Mallorca's Victor muscled Rafael Marquez off the ball to pull a goal back in the 70th minute, but after their defender Fernando Varela was sent off, Iniesta and Santiago Ezquerro scored at the end from Ronaldinho's assists.

REAL SOCIEDAD 0 REAL BETIS 0

Bottom club Sociedad were nowhere nearer earning their first win of the season in this dull game. Betis hit a post in the second half but both coaches remain under pressure.

REAL ZARAGOZA 3 GIMNASTIC 0

Gimnastic remain deep in trouble but deserved more from this spirited performance after creating a number of chances.

Zaragoza's Argentine playmaker Pablo Aimar drilled a long-range effort into the net after 50 minutes, and four minutes later Jose Maria Movilla crossed for Oscar to score.

Sergio Garcia's run and pull back allowed Gerard Pique to sidefoot the third.

RECREATIVO HUELVA 2 OSASUNA 0

Promoted Recre continue to play quality football and were rarely troubled by an Osasuna side woefully short of goals.

It was impressive winger Santi Cazorla who started the move that led to the opening goal, which was headed home by Javi Guerrero just before the break. Nigerian striker Ikechukwu Uche scored the second from a narrow angle in the 76th minute.

VILLARREAL 1 GETAFE 0

Villarreal needed help from Getafe's Argentine goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri to win this tight game.

After 52 minutes Villarreal's Argentine defender Rodolfo Arruabarrena headed goalwards from a corner but after having saved on the line, Abbondanzieri fumbled the ball into his own net.

REAL MADRID 3 RACING SANTANDER 1

Real got the perfect start when Sergio Ramos powered in a far post header from a corner after five minutes but they struggled until Jose Antonio Reyes scored on a swift break in the 58th minute after a pass from Emerson.

In the 71st minute Raul crossed for Mali midfielder Mahamadou Diarra to score at the second attempt and five minutes later Racing's Argentine defender Ezequiel Garay blasted a free kick into the top corner.

Real's night was spoilt when playmaker Guti was shown a straight red card two minutes from time after leading with the elbow in a challenge with Vitolo.

SEVILLA 3 VALENCIA 0

The game turned on the dismissal of Valencia's David Silva after only 17 minutes which left a stuttering Valencia to struggle for the rest of the game.

Sevilla defender Julien Escude scored with a low drive from the resultant free kick and Dani Alves fed Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano to net in the 55th minute.

Antonio Puerta's long pass in the 71st found Frederic Kanoute in the area and the Mali striker scored to take his tally to nine for the season. Valencia lost striker David Villa and Brazilian midfielder Edu to injury before the end.
