ATHLETIC BILBAO 0 ALAVES 2

 
Alaves claimed their first ever win in San Mames to extend basement club Bilbao's winless run to 11 games.

Brazilian midfielder Nene raced clear of the defence on to a long ball to open the scoring after seven minutes.

Bilbao midfielder Fran Yeste had the chance to level with a penalty seven minutes from time, but he fired over the bar, and Rodolfo Bodipo converted a late near-post header to wrap up the win.

CADIZ 0 VALENCIA 1

Valencia survived a number of scares and had defender Carlos Marchena sent off in the 65th minute, before taking the lead against the run of play in the 80th minute.

Vicente's free kick from 30 metres out flew through a crowd of players untouched, and into the goal. Cadiz also finished with 10 men after striker Oli was sent off in the 78th minute.

ESPANYOL 2 REAL MALLORCA 0

Espanyol ended a winless run of eight league games with two goals in two minutes against fellow strugglers Mallorca.

Raul Tamudo scored from the penalty spot in the 40th minute and Luis Garcia finished off a sweeping counter-attack after being set clear by midfielder Ivan de la Pena.

Mallorca had Italian midfielder Cristiano Doni sent off four minutes from time.

MALAGA 3 REAL SOCIEDAD 1

Malaga scored three times in 15 second-half minutes to beat Sociedad, defender Cesar Navas heading the opener from a corner in the 62nd minute.

Midfielder Antonio Hidalgo doubled the lead 12 minutes later with a shot from the edge of the area, and Portuguese forward Edgar broke clear to add the third.

Sociedad scored a consolation goal in the 80th minute when Oscar de Paula steered in Xavier Prieto's cross from the right.

CELTA VIGO 2 ATLETICO MADRID 1

Celta's Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano scored his sixth goal of the season in the 26th minute following a mix-up in the Atletico defence.

Uruguayan midfielder Fabian Canobbio doubled the lead with a free kick in the 53rd minute, but Atletico fought back when Antonio Lopez headed home from a corner seven minutes later.

Celta keeper Jose Manuel Pinto pulled off a string of late saves to secure the points.

RACING SANTANDER 0 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 3

Deportivo earned a flattering win to extend Racing's winless run to eight games.

Striker Diego Tristan diverted Joan Capdevila's cross in at the near post after 16 minutes, and Pedro Munitis's free kick skimmed off a crowd of heads to sneak in at the near post in the 51st.

Uruguayan striker Sebastian Taborda dived to head Juan Carlos Valeron's cross in for the third in the 73rd minute.

Getafe ended a run of three straight league defeats to hold in-form Osasuna to a draw in a tight game with few chances.

The visitors had coach Javier Aguirre sent off in the first half and nearly went behind just before the break when Getafe midfielder Jaime Gavilan thumped a shot against the post.

REAL MADRID 0 BARCELONA 3

Barcelona overwhelmed their arch-rivals with a commanding display of fast, attacking football at the Bernabeu.

Samuel Eto'o opened the scoring after 15 minutes, spinning clear of three defenders to score his 11th goal of the season.

Iker Casillas twice denied Barca's Argentine youngster Lionel Messi, who was a constant threat, before playmaker Ronaldinho sealed the win with two outstanding solo efforts.

In the 60th minute the Brazilian shrugged off two defenders to score after a 40 metre run, and in the 78th minute he left Sergio Ramos standing to score inside the far post.

SEVILLA 1 REAL BETIS 0

Sevilla survived the sending off of central defender Javi Navarro after just 24 minutes to beat city rivals Betis in a bad-tempered, niggly game.

Italian midfielder Enzo Maresca put Sevilla in front with a penalty in the 50th minute, after a free kick near the edge of the area struck a Betis player's arm in the wall.

Maresca was also sent off in the 85th minute leaving his side with nine men, and home keeper Andres Palop pulled off a great save in injury time to deny Marcos Assuncao the equaliser.

VILLARREAL 0 REAL ZARAGOZA 0

Villarreal were without Argentine playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme and Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan but still dominated a lively encounter, with the home side's Jose Mari the game's most dangerous player.

It was Zaragoza's eighth draw in 12 games while Villarreal extended their unbeaten run to eight.
