Brief reports of matches played in the Primera Liga on Sunday:

ALAVES 0 REAL MADRID 3

Two goals from Ronaldo effectively saw off a spirited Alaves.

The Brazilian pounced on a loose ball to power home early in the second half and raced on to David Beckham's weighted pass seven minutes from time to seal the win by rounding Franco Constanzo.

Midfielder Guti, given a rare start, added a third in injury time.

ATHLETIC BILBAO 0 RACING SANTANDER 0

Bilbao dominated but were unable to find a way past a stubborn Racing defence that has conceded only two goals in five games.

Midfielder Fran Yeste came closest for Bilbao firing against the post in the first half.

CELTA VIGO 2 SEVILLA 1

Celta moved to the top of the table with a convincing win over Sevilla.

Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano put the home side in front after a minute with a flicked backheel at the near post and midfielder Borja Oubina added a second soon after following a jinking run into the area.

Jose Manuel Pinto saved a Luis Fabiano penalty before the break but when Sevilla won a second in the 54th minute Italian midfielder Vincenzo Maresca scored from the spot.

OSASUNA 2 CADIZ 0

Osasuna took the lead in the 27th minute when David Lopez hooked in a left-footed shot after good work by French midfielder Ludovic Delporte.

Cadiz won a penalty early in the second half but Argentine midfielder Andres Fleurquin fired against the post and it was left to Moroccan midfielder Moha to seal the win for Osasuna with a well-taken shot a minute from time.

REAL MALLORCA 1 MALAGA 4

After a strong opening period, Mallorca were stunned by two goals in three minutes. Striker Salva Ballesta opened the scoring with a side-footed shot after 28 minutes.

Midfielder Duda scored the first of two free kicks in the 31st minute, surprising keeper Toni Prats from 30 metres out. He did the same again from a similar distance early in the second half.

Malaga forward Edgar spun away to strike a dipping shot over Prats after 59 minutes. Greek striker Lampros Choutos salvaged a late goal for Mallorca with a header.

ATLETICO MADRID 0 GETAFE 1

Getafe moved into second place after getting the better of Atletico in the Madrid derby even though they were a man down for most of the second half.

Midfielder Mario Cotelo was sent off on the hour for a wild challenge on Bulgarian winger Martin Petrov but defender Mariano Pernia struck the winner 10 minutes later when he fired a freekick through a ragged Atletico wall.

ESPANYOL 1 VILLARREAL 2

Villarreal finally claimed their first win of the season and moved off the bottom of the table.

Manuel Pellegrini's side gradually found their rhythm and took the lead a minute before halftime when midfielder Josico snapped home on the turn after a corner.

Espanyol striker Luis Garcia equalised on the hour when he latched on to a header and beat keeper Sebastian Viera at the second attempt but midfielder Marcos Senna restored Villarreal's advantage when he drilled home six minutes later.

REAL ZARAGOZA 1 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 1

The result at La Romareda allowed both teams to keep their unbeaten records intact.

Argentine striker Diego Milito put Zaragoza ahead when he guided in a superb cross from Savio in the 13th minute.

Depor equalised on the stroke of halftime when Diego Tristan popped a header over keeper Cesar after Pedro Munitis had clipped a freekick into the area.

VALENCIA 2 REAL SOCIEDAD 1

Valencia were in control from the start at the Mestalla but did not take the lead until 10 minutes before the break when Pablo Aimar headed past keeper Asier Riesgo.

Striker David Villa extended the home side's lead three minutes into the second half when he controlled a pass with his chest, fended off a defender and fired past Riesgo to take his tally for the season to five goals.

Turkish striker Nihat Kahveci pulled one back for Sociedad just after the hour when he hammered home from close range.

REAL BETIS 1 BARCELONA 4

Barca got their season back on track with a stylish win over Betis, who played most of the game with 10 men after leading striker Ricardo Oliveira was sent off on 21 minutes for insulting the referee.

Samuel Eto'o missed an early penalty but new signing Mark van Bommel put Barca in front soon after with a glancing header.

Betis hit back when defender Juanito nodded in after a freekick. Eto'o atoned for his penalty miss with two devastating strikes to put Barca 3-1 up.

Winger Santi Ezquerro scored his first goal since joining the club two minutes from time.
