Brief reports of Primera Liga matches played on Sunday:

ATLETICO MADRID 0 REAL MADRID 3

Real were on the ropes for much of the match but emerged with an emphatic win thanks to Ronaldo's clinical finishing and an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Ronaldo put Real ahead from their only chance of the first half when he fired home after a fine cross from Roberto Carlos in the 14th minute.

Casillas kept a dominant Atletico at bay until Santiago Solari added a second nine minutes from time and Ronaldo compounded the home side's misery by drilling home another soon afterwards.

ESPANYOL 4 OSASUNA 1

Espanyol produced a sparkling comeback to claim a resounding victory over Osasuna who took the lead when Cameroon striker Pierre Webo fired home in the 16th minute.

The Catalans turned the match on its head with a three-goal salvo just before the break. Argentine striker Maxi Rodriguez started the fightback when he pounced on a poor headed pass back to the keeper and stabbed the ball home from a metre out.

Brazilian midfielder Fredson powered in a header after a corner and outstanding midfielder Ivan de la Pena capped a brilliant performance by curling in a 20-metre free kick just before the break.

Fredson completed the rout with a close-range header seven minutes from time.

RACING SANTANDER 2 MALAGA 1

Racing claimed their first victory in eight outings against troubled Malaga, who have managed just one win in 12 games.

Leading striker Javi Guerrero notched his sixth goal of the season when he spun a clever header into the far corner after a great cross from Fernando Moran in the 26th minute.

Uruguayan winger Mario Regueiro made it 2-0 just before the break when he blasted a 20-metre free kick past keeper Juan Calatayud. Cesar Navas's late header provided scant consolation for the Andalucians.

REAL MALLORCA 2 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 2

An impressive debut for Japan striker Yoshito Okubo, who scored one and laid on another as the struggling islanders grabbed a draw against out-of-sorts Depor, who have gone six games without a win.

Albert Luque combined with another former Mallorca striker Diego Tristan before drilling the ball past Sander Westerveld, but Mallorca levelled when Luis Garcia headed home after a great cross from Okubo six minutes later.

Luque put Depor ahead again when smashed home from close range after Jose Molina palmed a shot into his path but Okubo grabbed the equaliser with a fine header a minute later.

REAL SOCIEDAD 0 ALBACETE 2

Sociedad followed up their midweek defeat in their held over match against Real Madrid with a poor performance against struggling Albacete.

Antonio Pacheco scored both goals, opening with a 30-metre pot shot on seven minutes and making the most of a terrible mistake by Sociedad keeper Asier Riesgo to grab his second after the break.

Riesgo took an air-shot at a back pass to leave the Uruguayan striker with a simple tap-in three minutes after the restart.

REAL ZARAGOZA 1 REAL BETIS 0

Brazilian midfielder Savio celebrated his 30th birthday with a scorching left-foot strike high into the net after being set free by Luciano Galletti a minute before the break to give Zaragoza victory over a well organised Betis side.

VILLARREAL 3 BARCELONA 0

Barcelona fell victim to former player Juan Roman Riquelme who provided the scoring passes for his side's first two goals and bossed the midfield at El Madrigal. The Argentine slipped a neat reverse pass into the path of Diego Forlan, who blasted home with a fierce left-foot shot on the half hour, and then hit a perfectly struck free kick behind the Barcelona defence for defender Gonzalo Rodriguez to poke home unopposed early in the second half.

Uruguay striker Forlan completed his double and took his tally for the season to nine when he poked the ball home at the second attempt three minutes from time.

NUMANCIA 1 ATHLETIC BILBAO 1

Bilbao looked to be on course for their fourth straight win when wing back Asier del Horno got in front of two defenders to head in a corner on the stroke of halftime.

Numancia striker Luis Tevenet earned the basement side a point, however, when he equalised 20 minutes after the break as his 30-metre shot skidded off the icy surface and under Bilbao keeper Daniel Aranzubia.

SEVILLA 0 GETAFE 0

Getafe were unlucky not to get their first away win of the season after dominating most of the match against struggling Sevilla.

Goalkeeper Esteban was the home side's outstanding player and several top-class saves either side of the break prevented the Andalucians suffering a first home defeat of the season.

VALENCIA 2 LEVANTE 1

The champions claimed the honours in the first Valencia derby in 40 years and extended their unbeaten run to eight matches.

Midfielder Ruben Baraja put Valencia in front early in the second half after great work by Francisco Rufete on the right and striker Mista extended their lead five minutes later when his header was controversially ruled to have crossed the line.

Levante substitute Edwin Congo made for an exciting finish when he bundled in at the far post 17 minutes from time.
