BARCELONA 1 ATHLETIC BILBAO 1

Barca will be left kicking themselves after a late lapse of concentration allowed Bilbao midfielder Carlos Gurpegi to head home an 86th-minute equaliser at the Nou Camp.

Reserve team goalkeeper Albert Jorquera kept the home side in the game early on with some spectacular saves, but with Ronaldinho at the helm Barca gradually took control and had looked set for victory when Patrick Kluivert finished off a slick passing move with a powerful header midway through the second half.

MURCIA 2 CELTA VIGO 2

Murcia ended their three-match losing streak with a valiant second-half fightback against fellow strugglers Celta, but it was still not enough to lift Joaquin Peiro's side off the bottom of the table.

Celta seemed on course for a comfortable victory after a spectacular 35-metre free kick from midfielder Peter Luccin and a neat finish from striker Savo Milosevic had put the visitors 2-0 up at the break.

But Luccin's sending off for a second booking midway through the second half sparked the home side's revival and forwards Diego Quintana and David Karanka scored twice in 11 minutes to level the game.

Murcia were also reduced to 10 men when defender Daniel Jensen picked up a second yellow card six minutes from time.

VALLADOLID 0 VALENCIA 0

Valencia missed the creative talents of Argentine playmaker Pablo Aimar as they were held to a goalless draw by a well drilled Valladolid.

The visitors had the better of the possession throughout, but lacked their usual cutting edge in attack and had keeper Santiago Canizares to thank for saving the point when he produced a brilliant one-handed save to scoop a Ariza Makakula header off the line in the dying minutes.
