Celta continue to disappoint as they slumped to their fourth defeat of the season against a well organised and effective Racing Santander.

Israeli international forward Yossi Benayoun scored his fourth goal of the season when he cracked in on the volley from seven metres out with just two minutes on the clock to decide the game.

It was a miserable day for Celta, who were reduced to 10 men in injury time when French midfielder Peter Luccin was red carded for directing an apparent insult at the referee.

MURCIA 0 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 0

Deportivo turned in their second below-par performance of the week with a tame 0-0 draw away to Joaquin Peiro's strugglers.

The Galicians, who lost 2-0 at home to Real Mallorca on Wednesday, rarely threatened the Murcia goal and it was the home side who went closest to scoring when striker David Karanka planted a looping header on to the bar early in the second half.

REAL MADRID 3 ATHLETIC BILBAO 0

A combination of deadly finishing from World Player of the Year Ronaldo and some stunning saves from Iker Casillas gave Real a 3-0 win over a Bilbao side that were unfortunate to leave the Bernabeu without more reward for a fine performance.

The Brazilian grabbed his first when he turned sharply to crack in with his right in a crowded area 11 minutes before the break and made it 2-0 when he completed a dazzling run with a left foot finish.

He then served up his side's third when he sliced through the Bilbao defence and slipped an unselfish pass to Luis Figo who slipped into the open goal.
