MALAGA 2 CELTA VIGO 1
Malaga claimed their second successive league win against a Celta side clearly feeling the effects of their Champions League exertions against AC Milan in midweek.
Malaga opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Fernando Sanz converting at the far post from a corner on the left, and were in charge of the game until Celta hit back midway through the second half with a Savo Milosevic header.
The home side regained their lead three minutes later with a precise finish from Miguel Angel and that proved enough to give them all three points.
MURCIA 1 ALBACETE 0
Michel gave Murcia the lead with a free kick after five minutes and the home side held on to clinch their first win of the season.
REAL MADRID 2 ESPANYOL 1
Real were a long way short of their best but were still too good for bottom club Espanyol.
Carlos Queiroz's side took the lead in the 53rd minute when Raul turned inside the box and crossed for Brazilian striker Ronaldo to finish from close range.
Luis Figo missed a penalty a few minutes later but Real doubled their lead eight minutes from time when England captain David Beckham chipped over a cross for the unmarked Ronaldo to head home.
Alex pulled one back for Espanyol in the third minute of injury time but that proved to be the last kick of the game.
REAL MALLROCA 1 OSASUNA 1
A first point for Mallorca under caretaker coach Tomeu Llompart, who took charge this week following the dismissal of Jaime Pacheco.
Miguel Angel Nadal headed in from a corner to put Mallorca ahead after 84 minutes but Osasuna equalised within a minute, Pierre Webo sliding a shot past Leo Franco at his near post.
REAL SOCIEDAD 1 SEVILLA 1
Real Sociedad, runners-up to champions Real Madrid last season, had to settle for a point that left them well off the title pace.
Sociedad took the lead after just four minutes, when Valery Karpin crossed from the right for Darko Kovacevic to head home.
Sevilla levelled with a Dario Silva strike on the quarter-hour, though, and Sociedad created little else for the remainder of a disappointing game.
VALLADOLID 0 RACING SANTANDER 4
Valladolid were already trailing to a Rodolfo Bodipo goal when they had goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri sent off in first-half injury-time and only two penalty saves from substitute keeper Catriel Orcellet prevented a much heavier defeat.
Bizzarri was red-carded for bringing down Bodipo on a run into the box and Orcellet's first act was to save Javi Guerrero's spot kick.
Orcellet saved again from Mario Regueiro in the second half but the Racing striker atoned with a close-range finish after Marcos had inexplicably lost the ball in his own area. Bodipo and Medhi Nafti added further goals to complete an easy victory.

Walter Pandiani continued his remarkable record of scoring in every game this season to help Deportivo to their fifth win in sixth games.
After early goals from Fran for Depor and Matias Lequi for Atletico, the home side took control with an Enrique Romero strike, deflected in off Lequi, and Sergio's long-range belter.
Pandiani fired in from the edge of the box after 57 minutes to make it 4-1 with his sixth goal in six league games -- he has also scored in each of Deportivo's Champions League matches -- and a late strike from Lionel Scaloni wrapped up the win.
Javi Moreno's sending-off for a second yellow card completed a miserable night for Atletico.
REAL BETIS 1 ATHLETIC BILBAO 1
Betis were superior throughout but needed a 90th-minute strike from Marcos Assuncao to salvage a point.
Athletic took the lead immediately after the restart, Tiko converting after Joseba Etxeberria's effort had been half cleared. The visitors were on course for a third win in four games but Assuncao's 25-metre shot earned Betis a draw with seconds remaining.
VILLARREAL 1 REAL ZARAGOZA 1
Villarreal maintained their unbeaten start to the season but missed a chance to move into the top three with their fourth draw.
Victor put the home side ahead after just four minutes, smashing in from a free kick after Gabriel Milito had fouled Juliano Belletti. Villarreal could only hold their lead until the 23rd minute, however, as David Villa turned in a cross from Cani.
