Portugal pulls out of Real Madrid move

Miguel Angel Portugal is not moving to Real Madrid.

Portugal left as coach of Racing Santander last week and was expected to take up a position with Real's football staff.

But Real sports director Pedja Mijatovic made it no secret he was against the appointment of Portugal, insisting he did not welcome the interference, says AS.

While Real president Ramon Calderon was determined to appoint his good friend, Portugal chose to pull out of the deal to avoid conflict.
