Portugal coach Scolari tops Real Madrid shortlist

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is being linked with Vanderlei Luxemburgo's job at Real Madrid.
 
Real president Florentino Perez has Scolari top of his shortlist of candidates should Luxemburgo's team continue to splutter in the early weeks of this season.

Perez knows bringing in another Brazilian would be controversial amongst Real fans, but given the number of South Americans on the books, the president knows he'd be risking more by appointing a Spaniard.

Its been suggested Perez would be prepared to allow Scolari to coach Portugal part-time leading up to next year's World Cup.

The other outstanding candidate is former Deportivo La Coruna coach Javier Irureta. However, Scolari remains No1 for Perez should Luxemburgo continue to struggle.
