Perez Vows To Sign New Superstar

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has vowed to continue his policy of signing a superstar each summer.

Perez claims he will try and sign the best player in the World at the end of the season, which has ignited speculation that the Spanish giants will try and sign Arsenal's Thierry Henry.

"This year we will again try to sign the best player in the world," said Perez.

In each of the last four summers Perez has hogged the headlines by signing David Beckham, Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo.

However, Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood said yesterday: "We're not interested in selling. Thierry's irreplaceable and we have no intention of letting him go."

"Thierry is not only a great player, probably the most complete I have seen at Arsenal, but also a great character and a lovely boy."

Real Madrid have also been linked with fellow Premiership heavyweights Michael Owen and Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
