Perez to offer Del Bosque chance to return to Real

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said he will offer former coach Vicente del Bosque the chance to return to the club to work with the youth team.

"I will offer him a post working with the young players where I think he will be more comfortable," Perez told Spanish radio station Radio Intereconomia.

"Del Bosque is a good coach, but as I have said before I think changes of coach are often necessary."

Del Bosque was discarded by the club at the end of last season after guiding the side to victories in two league championships and two European Cups during his three and a half years at the helm.

He was replaced by former Manchester United assistant Carlos Queiroz, who was sacked by Real on Monday after the team ended the season without a major trophy for the first time in five years.

"We weren't wrong to not renew Del Bosque's contract, but we made a mistake in hiring Queiroz," said Perez earlier in the week.

Del Bosque's former team mate at Real, Jose Antonio Camacho, took over as head coach on Tuesday and the two are known to enjoy a close relationship, but the possibility of a return to the club come as a major surprise.

The 53-year-old, who has not worked as a coach since his dismissal by Real, has gone on record as saying that he wants to take up a first-team coaching post with another club.

He has also been critical of the way Real dealt with him towards the end of his period as coach.

"They were unjust, aggressive and insensitive and I'm not just talking about the decision not to renew my contract," he told radio station Onda Cero earlier this week.
