Perez: Real Madrid want to keep Casillas

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists he wants to sign goalkeeper Iker Casillas to a new deal.
 
Considered one of the best custodians in Europe, Casillas is a popular figure for the Bernabeu faithful and recently made his 200th league appearance for Madrid.

However, with his contract due to expire at the end of the current campaign, the 24-year-old has yet to agree a new deal with the club.

But the Spain international appears to have a fan in Perez, who says contract talks with Casillas and centre-back Ivan Helguera are in the pipeline.

"We are going to start looking at both of these questions during the month," said Perez on Radio Marca.

"I can't imagine the Real Madrid goal without Iker Casillas," he added. "We have to listen to the technical staff, but overall I am optimistic."
