Perez promises that Del Bosque is safe

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has quashed speculation that coach Vicente del Bosque's job is under threat after the 4-2 defeat to Las Palmas. "He doesn't have to worry about his job as I just love the way he works," he said.

Barcelona lead La Liga with 14 points from six games, while Real are languishing in 14th spot. They went down to two goals from substitute Ruben, one from Pablo Lago and another from Jorge on Wednesday.

But Perez is keeping calm and wants the fans to do the same. He claimed that Real will close the gap Barca have opened at the top of the Primera. "Our bad luck will end soon and we we'll catch Barca," Perez said. "Make no mistake – we're not in a crisis."

"The president is calm. We still have a very good team and we'll overcome over this problem. I've no doubt about it. Obviously, I can't be happy but Real is a club that knows how to deal with these circumstances. I plead with supporters not to be nervous."

"It's September now and the whole season is in front of us. We haven't started like we were supposed to but we didn't last year either and eventually found our rhythm. We will do so this term as well."

Midfielder Zinedine Zidane, who scored one of Real's goals, has blamed Real Madrid's wretched start to the season on a lack of cohesion within the squad.

"The team are not very well organised yet," he said after the defeat. "I think it's a question of my physical form and also my position on the pitch."
