Perez Is Working Hard To Get Beckham, Reveals Carlos

Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos has revealed that Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez is working hard to ensure they sign David Beckham.

There has been a growing belief that Real were on the verge of trying to hijack Barcelona's bid to bring the England captain to Spain.

Barcelona's presidential candidate Joan Laporta has had a bid for the player accepted in principle by Manchester United, but Carlos is convinced Beckham would rather sign for Real Madrid.

"Let's wait and see what happens in the next few days," said the full-back.

"What is certain is that Florentino has done a great deal of hard work so that Beckham will come to Madrid."

He added: "Without doubt, he is one of the best in the world. Our president always goes in search of the best. I am sure that if Beckham has to choose, he will choose Real Madrid ahead of Barcelona. They are not a bad team, but he knows that we are more complete."
