Perez: I won't quit Real Madrid presidency

Florentino Perez has denied reports he intends to step down early from the Real Madrid presidency.

It was suggested Perez was ready to quit well before 2008, when the next Real elections are scheduled.

But at the presentation of his biography, Perez said: "I am not thinking of leaving and I am sure that Emilio Butragueño would be and will be a good president for Real Madrid."

Butragueno is the man Perez wants as his successor after making the former Real striker his vice-president over Christmas.

"I am not thinking of leaving now. The most important thing is continuity. Such an important institution like Real Madrid must not have an uncertain future," Perez added.
