Pepe Aims For The Treble

Real Madrid defender Pepe spoke out in support of his club president's ambitions to lift the treble this season.

Real Madrid defender Pepe is adamant that his side should be aiming for an historic treble.

As the Portuguese stopper returned to the Spanish capital for early January training, sports daily Marca accosted him at Barajas airport, where he was quizzed on his plans for the current campaign.

"My hope is the same as that of the president: the treble," responded the 24-year old.

"This will be our big year."

The former Porto man, who arrived at the Bernabeu for 30 million euros this summer, is set to take part this evening as Real Madrid face Alicante in their Copa del Rey second leg encounter.

However, there is cope for rotation: as Pepe appears to have cemented himself as first choice alongsie Fabio Cannavaro, Christoph Metzelder could be swapped in.
