People Don’t Want Us To Win La Liga

Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic does not make any attempt to be discreet in his criticism of the state of refereeing in La Liga. He's livod over decisions that have gone against his side in recent games.

While the rest of the team, including coach Bernd Schuster and several players, avoided the topic of match officials following Madrid’s 3-2 win over Athletic Bilbao overnight, unforgiving sporting director Mijatovic was not willing to dodge the issue.

“I am happy with the team’s performance and the result, but I am not going to hide my preoccupation with the refereeing decisions that have been called against us over the past few weeks,” he told the club’s official website after the Bilbao clash.

“I’m worried. I don’t know what’s happening but I don’t like the situation."

“Higuaín’s disallowed goal was not offside; the penalty was very harsh - so was Marcelo’s yellow card. That’s without even mentioning the games against Atlético and Espanyol."

“It seems that there are people who do not want Real Madrid to win their third consecutive La Liga title,” he spat out bluntly, before adding, “We want to believe this is all just coincidence, but too much has happened in the past few games.”

Finally, Mijatovic commented on the situation regarding rightback Sergio Ramos’ outburst and his subsequent omission from the team last night.

He explained: “Sometimes, players don’t think about what they are going to say. We all make mistakes."

“Nevertheless, the coach’s decision to bench him had nothing to do with what he said. Many of our men play a lot of games and we just decided to give him a rest,” he claimed.
