Patrick Kluivert could join Real Madrid

Barcalona striker Patrick Kluivert could end up joining his friend Luis Figo at Real Madrid after next season according to Spanish rumors.

The Dutch ace has reportedly made a verbal agreement to sign for the Merengues on a free transfer after completing his contract at Barcelona.

It would be a shrewd move for Kluivert, who would earn around $US 6 million as a signing-on fee, on top of a colossal $US 9 million salary per season.

According to the radio station Kluivert and his agent Sergi Lens have already signed a pre-agreement with a $US 26 million penalty if the player backs out of the deal.

Kluivert and Barcelona have reached a stalemate in talks regarding the player's contract extension. However, if the rumours have any truth, then Kluivert would certainly be in for a hard time from Barca fans, who would certainly see the deal as an act of betrayal.
