Nothing has changed

César Sánchez feels that despite his superb performance against Anderlecht this week, he will have few opportunities to keep goal this season.

The 30-year-old deputy to Iker Casillas joined Real in 1999 from Valladolid but has spent the last two seasons playing second fiddle to the sensational Spanish international.

He has regularly voiced his dismay about being marginalised from the first team and even threatened to leave the Bernabeu if it meant getting a chance to play regular first-team football elsewhere.

Vicente del Bosque has eased César's predicament lately by picking him ahead of Casillas for cup games against Pájara Playas as well as last Tuesday's clash with Anderlecht but the player is still not happy.

He said: "Nothing has changed. I moaned about my situation last week but it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular at the club. I'm frustrated at not being able to play more frequently and if
there are no possibilties for me to do so here then we'll have to see what happens in the future.

"I've played more games in one week than I have in two months but whatever your job is, if you don't feel valued and useful then it's natural that you'd feel hurt.".

The Cáceres-born keeper is expected to return to the bench for Sunday's game against Celta Vigo, leaving Casillas to guard the Real goal.
