No Liverpool move for Real Madrid's Morientes

Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes cannot sign for Liverpool in January.

Morientes declared he fancied a move to Anfield when the winter market opens over the New Year.

But FIFA rules state that the centre-forward cannot leave Real this season having only returned to Madrid in the summer after a season-long loan at AS Monaco.

Morientes must wait until the end of this season before being allowed to move again.
