"No excuses" for Real Madrid after shock

Real Sociedad stunned Real Madrid 1-0 in San Sebastian yesterday.

Valery Karpin grabbed Sociedad's winner midway through the second-half and coach Raynald Denoueix said afterwards: "This is a very important victory, against a great riual."

"Football can throw up these results. It's important to always believe in yourself and to keep fighting."

"We have great team spirit and I believe that helped us get the three points today."

Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz said, "The result was the right one, Sociedad were superior.

"There can be no excuses. We were second best."
