Here again are some exciting news from Madrid, from our local Madridista.

War between AS and Catalan sports press about referees.

It has been matches ago, where Barcelona and Real Madrid really had their tough matches with poor agressions on eachother, but the fight goes on still outside the pitch in the newspapers.

The 10 points advantage Real Madrid have on Barcelona, has created a jealous catalan press. According to AS´s Tomás Roncero, he has listen to different statements, from a sector in the catalan sports pres. Tomás Roncero states some comments from the press "the catalan sports press believe that the league is manipulated by the referees, and the referees has kneeled down to Mourinho"

Also he mentioned that that the statements included comments like, Florentino Perez has contact to an former referee to gain their victories.

Well Real Madrid can not reject that they have been lucky with some errors from the referees in the league, but the statements are a lie if you look at the passed incidents in the Kings cup and in the first matches in the league. You can not deny that Barcelona was quite lucky, not to get penalized for the two handballs by Abidal and Busquets in the second match of Kings cup against Real Madrid in the penalty areas. Neither can you forget Barcelonas first match against Valencia, where Pinto had a clear handball outside his area. These incidents the catalan press has totally forgotten.

But Tomás Roncero also remembers some incidents in the two matches Levante-Real Madrid 1-0 and Santander 0-0. Two obvious handballs in each match after a corner, and after a freekick was overseen by the referees. Real Madrid lost 5 points in these two matches.

Psychological game betweem the two sides, wich AS and Marca are bound to win.

AS and Marca is analyzes the mistakes from the referees, after each Real Madrid match and Barcelona match, wich you dont see in the catalan press. Because where the catalan press only has their eyes on the mistakes that favors Madrid, AS and Marca is looking on all the mistakes against Madrid/Barcelona, no matter if they favor the teams or not. This has not always been the case, but it should be a good start to stop the poor refereeing. No matter what, the best teams in the league has always been favorised by the referees and this should not be ok. The problem is also to be found in a different place.

The new way of analyzing the matches, should pay more attention to the level of refereeing and hopefully improve the level in the future. The Spanish referees are often criticized at the stadiums, in the press and sometimes by the coaches and players during and after the match. It gives a tough job to do, and a big pressure for the referees. The referees needs more education, how to tackle these situations and how to avoid the big pressure in these matches. This will only improve the referees and minimizes the mistakes in the matches both in the big and minor games.
