Newcastle join interest for Real Madrid ace Figo

Newcastle United have joined Premiership interest in Real Madrid winger Luis Figo.

Tottenham and Liverpool have been monitoring the Portuguese's situation at Real for some time and it emerged yesterday that Newcastle are also interested in the 31 year-old.

Figo moved a step closer to a Real exit on Sunday after he was dropped to the bench for the 4-2 win over Barcelona.

The wing ace has asked Real to give him a free transfer if they don't intend to extend his current deal, which has just over a year to run.
