Newcastle boss Souness dismisses Morientes reports

Newcastle United boss Graeme Souness has dismissed reports suggesting a bid has been tabled for Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes.

Souness said: "I'm not going to comment on it. It's just speculation. But I can assure supporters the chairman is working extremely hard to bring in the players we want."

"He is not sitting in his office twiddling his thumbs. He is chasing his counterparts at other clubs to try and get the players we're after."
