New Pay Dispute Hits Makelele Transfer

Chelsea's bid to sign Claude Makelele is in doubt once again after the players agent revealed another pay dispute between the Frenchman and Real Madrid.

The midfielder was set to finalise his move to the Premiership before tomorrow's transfer deadline after the clubs agreed a fee for the player.

However, his agent Marc Roger claims the transfer is now "very unlikely" after Real have refused to give Makelele his slice of the transfer fee, which is believed to be 15%.

The 30-year-old has agreed personal terms with the London club after the two clubs finally agreed on a transfer fee, which is believed to be £13.8m.

"It is very unlikely that this situation will be cleared," Roger told Marca Radio.

"It is very, very difficult. Real Madrid does not want to pay the percentage that every player has for every transfer."

"The player feels that they are being disrespectful towards him."

However, Chelsea were not expecting any hitch as they released the following statement: "Chelsea and Real Madrid have agreed terms for Claude Makelele and Chelsea have agreed terms with the player."

"He will do a medical over the weekend and it is hoped that the transfer will be completed in time for the player to be qualified for the Champions League."
