New England shirt impresses players

The new England shirt that will be worn against Northern Ireland on Saturday has been unveiled.

The Umbro home top also sports a star that commemorates England's World Cup success in 1966.

England and Real Madrid star Michael Owen said, "I think it is fantastic. Of all the shirts this is the most developed with great new detail, but it keeps tradition."

"The star commemorating the 1966 World Cup was a special like of mine and in my career I'd like to add another star to that."

Owen's club colleague David Beckham continued, "For any young player, when you're growing up playing for England is a dream come true and it's an honour to put on the shirt and walk in front of all those people and be proud."

"It's important the team look good and the kit looks very good."
