New Barcelona trainer Antic: We can win Champions League

New Barcelona trainer Radomir Antic assured supporters that he would steer the club away from relegation this season.

The Yugoslav also said it was his target to qualify for European competition next season.

Antic was paraded to local media yesterday and spoke while sitting alongside president Joan Gaspart and technical chief Carles Rexach.

"We are going to get out of this crisis. We will win the European Cup and do everything we can in the Liga until we qualify for the Champions League," said Antic.

"For me it is a great challenge. I know what Barca means to its people and Catalonia. I feel like a privileged person."

"The only thing that I request is that people invest in the team, because they will be repaid in great ways."
