Nesta to join Real Madrid at the end of the season

According to rumours circulating in Spain, Lazio captain Alessandro Nesta will be joining Real Madrid next season as the Italian club look to reduce their chronic debts.

Lazio chairman Massimo Cragnotti has already admitted that the free-spending days are over for his club and the news of the financial downturn in the club's fortunes, will have awakened Real's interest in a player, many regard as the most accomplished defender in Europe.

Nesta, the 25-year-old Italian international has been at the club since 1993.
