Nené Underplays Personal Bernabéu Record

Espanyol winger Nené has a rather impressive personal track record at the Bernabéu but down plays its significance when his side take on Real Madrid on Sunday.

Nené returned to top flight Spanish football with Espanyol this summer following a three season spell in the Segunda A and a one year hiatus in France last term.

The Brazilian winger will be able to prepare for this weekend’s big clash with Real Madrid alongside his teammates after his sending off at Barcelona was overturned by the Spanish Competition Committee.

And Los Periquitos will be glad to have him on their side considering his excellent personal record at the Bernabéu.

“Yes, it’s true that I have won there twice previously, once with Celta Vigo and another with Mallorca and I managed to score a goal,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.

“But nevertheless, it will not have anything to do with the game this Sunday,” he added.

The 27 year old then gave a brief analysis of the reigning La Liga champions: “We have to be very alert when we lose the ball and we have to press them hard to prevent them from doing any damage."

“It is important to also be attentive in defence because they are comfortable playing on the counter."

“When you’re feeling that you have the upperhand, that’s when Madrid can hit you hardest with a goal. They only need one chance to kill off the game,” he cautioned.
