Napoli set to land Real Madrid defender after Arsenal decide against move

Napoli are poised to sign Real Madrid defender Nacho.

The centre-back has been scouted by Arsenal this season with a view to a January bid but Arsene Wenger appears to have pulled out of the race.

And that, according CalcioNews24, has opened the door for Napoli, who have reportedly agreed a contract with Nacho's representatives.

All that's left now is for a transfer fee between the two clubs to be agreed, which may prove to be a stumbling block for Napoli, with Real manager Zinedine Zidane reluctant to sell the 26-year-old.

However, Nacho, who has only made 15 appearances for Los Blancos this season and is yet to feature this calendar year, is understood to be keen on a switch to gain more first-team action.

Napoli are expected to lodge a bid for Nacho by the end of the week and remain confident they can secure a deal before the transfer window shuts.
