Morientes Turned Down England, Italy And Germany For Monaco

Fernando Morientes has revealed that he turned down several offers to join Monaco on loan from Real Madrid last week.

"I had a lot of proposals from England, Italy and Germany," he told L'Equipe. "But I wanted to come to Monaco, maybe because there is less pressure than anywhere else. And I know the coach (Didier Deschamps), who speaks Spanish."

"For me, everything changed at Real Madrid with the arrival of Ronaldo. Since then I have been less used. My priority is to play soccer, so it was difficult to stay in Madrid."
