Morientes to sign new Real deal

Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes is expected to pen a new deal with the Spanish champions by the end of the week.

The player's agents, Gines Carvajal and Alberto Toldra will meet with Real's Sports Manager Jorge Valdano as soon as they have completed the final details of Valencia midfielder Gaizka Mendieta's transfer to Lazio.

Real want Moro to extend his current contract by a further two years, a move that would see the talented number nine finish his spell at the Bernabeu in 2004. The striker will receive a small pay rise but like his teammates, the major wage increase would come via a performance-related bonus scheme.

Real's goalkeeper Iker Casillas is also set to sign new terms with the Spanish outfit over the next few days.
