Morientes: I knew about Tottenham offer

Fernando Morientes has confirmed he knew of Tottenham's interest in his transfer over the summer.

The Real Madrid striker said, "There was much speculation that I was to leave the club at the start of the season but my feelings are that I want to continue to play for Real Madrid."

"It's true Real Madrid received an offer for me from Tottenham and other clubs at the start of the season, but nothing was signed so that was the end of it. My only colour is white and I never saw myself wearing any other shirt this season than Real Madrid one."

"I was very flattered by the interest that Tottenham showed in me and it is something that I will never forget. I've been looking out for Tottenham's results in the Premiership and I am happy that they have started so well in a very, very strong league."

"This does not mean, however, that I have any thoughts of joining the club in December."
