Morientes commits to Real Madrid

Fernando Morientes has performed a U-turn and pledged his immediate future to Real Madrid.

Morientes had been indicating he wanted away from the club and was courting interest from Porto, Arsenal and Chelsea.

But yesterday he said: "I only think about continuing here. One of the important reasons has been the technical body."

"I have worked with them, what they want and aspire to is what I want as well. I prefer to remain at Real Madrid and to discard my exit."

He added, "Nobody likes to be on the bench. But after talking with the coach, I know that with work and sacrifice I will be given my chance."
