Morientes backs Liverpool push for Real Madrid's Figo

Fernando Morientes has backed Liverpool's bid to sign his former Real Madrid teammate Luis Figo.

"I hope Luis Figo joins because he is such a good player and I think he would prove very important and successful for us," said Morientes.
 
"He's one of the best right wingers in the world and every forward would love to have a player like Figo in the same team."

"He could easily adapt to English football because he is very strong, he speaks English very well and he has the quality to get used to the different style in this country."

Morientes is also tipping new goalkeeper Jose 'Pepe' Reina to quickly establish his Premiership credentials.

"I played a lot of games against Reina in La Liga over the last three years. He is a great goalkeeper," said Morientes.

"Now we have three of the best goal-keepers and the competition is good. I've watched a lot of Spanish football on television since I moved to Liverpool and Reina has been one of the best in Spain."

"He's asked me a lot of questions about the style of English football, but I'm sure he has the right qualities to adapt."
