More injury woe for Concecaio

Real Madrid's Brazilian star Flavio Concecaio is set to undergo surgery on a torn achilles tendon, ruling him out for around six months.

The midfielder pulled out of training on Monday after complaining of pain and is now set to go under the surgeon's knife for the second time in less than 12 months.

However, Real's medical chief Alfredo Del Corral revealed that the club will wait until next Monday before deciding what action to take on the injury.

"Flavio will undergo further tests this afternoon," he said. "We'll do another scan and see what treatment he'll need to take."

"There are two options open to us, one is a conservative training programme, the other is surgery but there's no doubt that this is a serious injury."

Since joining Real Madrid from Deportivo 15 months ago, Concecaio has struggled with injuries and had an operation on a troublesome groin problem back in January.
