Milan's Ancelotti admits: We just weren't good enough against Real Madrid

Trainer Carlo Ancelotti admitted his AC Milan team were simply not good enough against Real Madrid last night.

The European champs out-classed their Italian opponents, winning 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

A double from Raul had the hosts 2-0 up before a late goal from Milan's Brazilian Rivaldo.

But Jose Maria Guti wrapped up the game with his effort four minutes from time.

Afterwards, Ancelotti said: "At this moment, Real are playing at their peak."

"Today's contest was used to give some of the players who have not enjoyed much match-time a chance to prove themselves."

"We just weren't in the right the shape today to contain Real."

"I must admit, there now is a possibility we could face another Italian team in the quarterfinals."

Milan midfielder Fernando Redondo was given a hero's welcome by the Real fans on his return.

Ancelotti added, "It was a beautiful moment, above all for the player."
