Milan inflict second defeat on Bayern

A Filippo Inzaghi double has maintained AC Milan's perfect Champions League start with a 2-1 win at Bayern Munich, the German side's second defeat of the competition.

Bayern paid for failing to convert pressure into goals as their stuttering Champions League campaign failed to lift off. The result left the 2001 champions with just one point from their first three games and a mountain to climb to qualify from group G for the second stage.

Inzaghi's header six minutes from time separated the two sides after the Italian's tap-in opener just after halftime was cancelled out within two minutes by a header from Bayern's Claudio Pizarro.

The home side, desperate for a first win, had begun their task the right way, harrying in midfield and dominating large periods of the game, but Milan notched up their third straight win.
